I’ve been messing around with PHP and the Google Maps API and created a Movie Showtimes/Google Maps mashup prototype. Check it out and let me know what you think:
Hi, I’m from Palermo, (Sicily, Italy) and Movie Showtimes map work perfectly. I’like it so much (so I found it on lifehacker).
Really cool, I’ve bookmarked it on delicious and i post the news on my friend blog.
TKS!!!
This is great, better than the other mashups of this type I have seen. Would it be possible to create bookmarkable URLs of location and zoom level? Thanks a lot
this is awesome..i have been wanting this forever .
Had a quick question are you using livesearch API under the hood for showtimes data or any other source i am dying to know…
thanks again for making this cool tool..really nifty and helpful …
you rock

great job…love your app! I’m messing around with flex and wanted to include something like this…i’ve noticed u have not answered the question of where are u getting the movie showtimes from…is this information private? or are u willing to give us a clue…either way nice job
Been using this for a while – very handy mashup! I tend to visit particular theaters for their amenities rather than look for a movie, so would love to click thru on the movie titles for a theater to see if I’m interested in what’s playing.
I didn't see the code posted for this application, Cherie. I am a student working on a similar project (i started last night). The link is attached, but IMDB has blacklisted my free host for image hotlinking – so its not as cool looking as on my local server. Anyhow, I was wondering what PHP techniques you used to pull the data so quickly and efficiently from Google Movies. Every time i've tried scraping like that it takes more time.

Just wanted to let you know that a theatre is missing from your data. You have never responded to any of the questions about where you get your data, so it's impossible to know to whom we can send such errors. So if you won't tell, will you at least pass along the information?
Regal Majestic 20 900 Ellsworth Drive Silver Spring MD 20910
It is listed on other sites as being in “Silver Springs” (which doesn't exist), so perhaps that's the problem.
Great job! I think this is a sign I should go to the theater nearby, I haven't been there since I was a little child. Where are you extracting your data from? I would like to do this, too, I see you haven't really had the time to reply to all the questions posted here, but I would appreciate if you could help me. Nice and simple. One theater near me is missing… What do you use as your movietime source?
Any chance we could see the source and how you put it together?
Looks great. Thanks for posting.

Sorry, but this is just not working for me (I’m in NY)
I get a list of movies, but no theaters in FF.
In IE, just a “loading message”

Hi,
This tool is fantastic, how are you able to produce the showtime data? Do you have any tutorials on how someone else can build a similar tool?

Thanks in advance.

Nice little app you’ve put together here. How are you parsing the movie list data and where are you getting the data from?

The data probably comes from the Yahoo! Movies API: http://developer.yahoo.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1646

Thanks for the heads up. It should be working now – I haven't had a chance to QA it completely yet so let me know if you find any problems.

If it's on Fandango, it should be on the map. It's fixed now.
